🧭 Directions: Reflection Lens Inventory Exercise (Module 1)

Please download the attached Reflection Lens Inventory Worksheet (located in the Exercise File Tab at the top of the page) and complete it for one course or program you teach, advise, or coordinate. Follow these directions exactly so your submission is consistent and easy to review.

Step 1: Open the Worksheet

Open the downloaded Word document in Microsoft Word (desktop or Word for the web).

Fill in the header section with:

  • Your Name / Title

  • Course or Program Title

  • Term / Year

  • Date Completed

Step 2: Rate and Observe Your Design Areas

In the table labeled Reflection Lens Inventory, rate each area (Orientation & Onboarding; Communication & Feedback; Engagement & Belonging; Course Structure & Pacing; Support Connections; Assessment & Scaffolding; Inclusivity & Accessibility).

For each row:

  • Rating: Select Exemplary, Strength, Needs Work, or High Risk.

  • Notes / Observations: Add 1–2 sentences explaining your rating.

  • Evidence / Examples / Priority: Add a brief example or indicator of evidence (e.g., “10 % drop in Week 2 logins”).

Step 3: Review Your Results

Use the scoring key to total your score and determine the overall status of the course or program.

Step 4: Reflect on Your Findings

At the end of the worksheet, respond briefly (150–250 words) to these prompts:

  • Did your final score reflect what you expected?

  • Which two areas are strongest?

  • Which one area represents the greatest risk to persistence?

  • What one small design change might reduce that risk?

Step 5: Save and Upload

Save your completed document as:

Module1_ReflectiveLens_[YourLastName].docx

Upload it to the Module 1 – Reflection Lens Inventory Assignment area.
